Writing obstacle - Write a description of being caught in a thunderstorm without using the words - Above, Cold, Fell/Fall and down (focus on all aspects of the situation - the physical sensations, the appearance of the sky and landscape and potentially the mood of the narrator as part of this).
As I stood there in the middle of the road, I felt as empty as the desert around me. Not even the trees could provide any life in the sea of dirt and rocks. I don’t know how long I was standing there. The events of the last 24 hours replayed in my mind over and over. How I survived it I don’t think I will ever know. I suddenly snapped out of my trance when I heard a loud clap of thunder. I looked up and saw the dark clouds starting to roll in quickly and before long, drops of rain hitting my face. I had no idea where I was or which way I should walk. The only thing I did know was that the blood on my hands was being washed away.
