Walking through the forest, your characters come to an entranceway.
Yosef, Casper, and Madeline—three people who had only known one another two days ago—walked along the winding dirt road.
Yosef, the oldest of the three, was in front, with Casper in the middle and Madeline Bring up the rear. It's hard to believe that only two days ago, the three of them were all sitting alone in a pub, minding their own business, when someone stormed in and looked for Yosef. He knew people were after him, but he thought he had done a good job covering his tracks. He tried to sneak out when someone in the pub saw him and pointed him out. But before he could do anything, the pub became extremely bright, followed by a thick cloud of smoke. Before he knew it, he felt his whole body pulled with such force that he nearly tripped over his feet several times.
Everything happened so fast that he had no time to ask questions until they were far away from the pub and any civilisation. He had asked them several times if they knew each other beforehand or if there was any reason why they had helped him. But they repeatedly denied that they knew each other beforehand and that helping him was a spur-of-the-moment decision. Yosef wasn't buying their story. There were so many holes in it.
At first, Yosef had tried to get away. They were after him just like the others were for all he knew. But over the last two days, they had repeatedly proven to themselves that they had his back. He still didn't trust them completely. There were things that they were keeping from him that he was sure of. But he was also sure they were not after him like the others.
They continued to walk in silence down the long dirt road. Suddenly, Yosef stopped, and the others ran into him.
Madeline: Ow! What the hell?!"
Yosef: 'Sorry, I thought I saw something move up ahead.'
Casper: 'What something?' Looking over Yosef's shoulder.' more bad guys?'
Madeline: 'Maybe it was just the trees moving in the wind.'
Yosef: 'Maybe. The trees are closer together.'
Casper: 'The trees looked like they had come together over there.'
Yosef: 'Yes, I think you are right.'
Before the other two could say anything else, Yosef was gone. Running as fast as he could towards the spot Casper had pointed at. As he got closer, the markings on the trees around the roots came into view. This was the place. The place that he had been searching for. Yosef's parents had told him stories of this place. A place where you can become the greatest hero the world will ever see. Where he would become what destiny had set out for him, become the person who would defeat this land's evil Emperor and return his family to the throne.
He wasn't sure if he could tell the others. Today, people still blame his family for the country's downfall. But they didn't stay. They believed the lie told to them by the Emperor. But Yosef knew he would have to reveal the truth once he walked through the entranceway.
So Yosef had to choose to trust these two strangers or tell them how vital it was for him to return as the King of Ceva.
